AML/KYC policy

This AML and KYC Policy is aimed at preventing the Currex service from being used for money laundering, terrorism financing, fraud, and other illegal activities.

Currex adheres to international standards for combating financial crime and monitors all transactions using specialized blockchain analysis tools.

1. Transaction monitoring

To analyze cryptocurrency operations, Currex uses the Rapira AML analyzer.

Based on this analyzer’s data, a Risk Score (risk level assessment) is generated for cryptocurrency transactions and addresses.

The check includes:

  • analysis of the source of funds;
  • checking the sender’s address for links to high‑risk sources;
  • identifying connections with services related to: darknet markets, fraudulent schemes, sanctions lists, mixers and transaction‑obfuscation services, illegal trading platforms.

If an increased risk level is detected, the Service is entitled to suspend processing of the operation to conduct additional checks and to request that the user undergo verification.

In some cases, a preliminary AML check of the transaction may not reveal an increased risk level. However, after the funds are credited to the receiving platform, its compliance department may conduct an additional analysis of the transaction and initiate an internal review. As part of such a review, the receiving platform has the right to request from the Service or directly from the sender that they complete a KYC (identity verification) procedure and/or provide documents confirming the source of funds (Source of Funds). In such cases, processing of the operation may be temporarily suspended until the review is completed and all required materials are provided.

2. General requirements for operations

To prevent illegal operations, the User must comply with the following requirements:

  • The sender and the recipient of funds in a transaction must be the same person. Transfers in favor of third parties are prohibited.
  • The contact details provided by the User when creating a transaction must be accurate and up to date.
  • When using a bank card, the User must complete the verification procedure established by the Service.

The Service has the right to restrict access to its services for Users who are citizens or residents of high‑risk countries or countries under international sanctions.

The User may contact the Service’s support team in advance to have their cryptocurrency address checked for compliance with AML requirements before carrying out an operation.

3. KYC (Know Your Customer) procedure

As part of its AML policy, Currex has the right to request that the user undergo an identification procedure. During this process, the following materials may be requested:

  • passport or national ID;
  • selfie with the document;
  • photo or video verification.

In certain cases, the Service may request confirmation of the source of funds (SoF – Source of Funds), including:

  • wallet screenshots;
  • transaction history;
  • proof of purchase of cryptocurrency;
  • other documents confirming the lawful origin of funds.

Currex reserves the right to request additional documents or information if there are suspicions of a breach of the AML policy.

4. Verification timeframes

The AML/KYC verification process may take from 1 to 15 business days, depending on the complexity of the case and the completeness of the data provided by the user.

During the verification period, the transaction may be temporarily suspended.

5. Refunds

If a transaction receives a high‑risk rating as a result of AML checks, the Service may:

  • request completion of the KYC/SoF procedure;
  • suspend execution of the operation until the review is completed.

After successful completion of the review and confirmation of the lawful origin of funds, the operation may be continued or the funds may be returned to the sender. The fee for refunds in AML‑related cases may be up to 5% of the transaction amount, but not more than 100 USD in equivalent. For bona fide users whose funds, after verification, are not confirmed as being connected with illegal activity, the refund or exchange fee is limited to the blockchain network fee only.

6. Storage and protection of personal data

Currex ensures the secure collection, processing, and storage of users’ personal data in accordance with data protection legislation.

Personal data is used solely for:

  • carrying out AML/KYC procedures;
  • preventing fraud;
  • fulfilling legal requirements.

User data is stored in secure systems and is not shared with third parties, except in cases provided for by law or when necessary for AML checks. A detailed personal data processing policy is published on this page.

7. Risk Score Model

We classify risks into two main groups:

High Risk:

  1. Stolen Coins
  2. Ransom
  3. Child Exploitation
  4. Terrorism Financing
  5. Dark Market
  6. Dark Service
  7. Enforcement Action
  8. Scam

Medium Risk:

  • Illegal Service
  • Mixer
  • Fraudulent Exchange
  • Sanctions
  • Gambling

The recommended benchmarks for risk assessment are as follows: the share of assets in the High Risk category should not exceed 5%, in the Medium Risk category – no more than 10%, and the overall risk score should not exceed 75%.

At the same time, it should be remembered that each transaction is analyzed individually, and the risk profile can be adjusted for each user.
